CHANGE A STORY, CHANGE A DESTINY

Bunk 57 Ministries diverts youth from the school-to-prison pipeline, delivers faith-based media through hip-hop and cinema projects, and promotes successful re-entry through education, training, and mentorship.

P.L.S.M. Youth Program

The school-to-prison pipeline is a real issue. It describes a series of policies and practices that push students from public schools into the juvenile and criminal justice systems. This phenomenon disproportionately impacts students of color, young individuals with mental health issues, and those with learning disabilities.
We believe in transforming young men that are "at risk" into men that create and inspire positive change in the community by the renewing of their minds.
The P.L.S.M. (Power, Love & Sound Mind) Youth Program provides:
  • Mentorship
  • Growth Sessions
  • Community Service & Life Skills Projects
  • Parenting Sessions

Life Restoration Program

Stigma can be a significant impediment to successful reintegration into society after being released from prison. It can lead to:
  • Discrimination in housing, employment, and other areas of community involvement. People with criminal backgrounds, for example, may be denied access to subsidized housing.
  •  Bad feelings about oneself, reluctance to seek help, and social disengagement
  • Rejection by family, friends, and the community
  •  Physical stress and social isolation, posing health

The Life Restoration Program is a re-entry initiative that supports returning citizens who face challenges such as uncertainty about where to begin, strain within their families, and difficulties in finding employment and addressing mental health issues. It also tackles substance use disorders through WRAP
(Wellness Recovery Action Plan), which is designed to assist anyone in achieving wellness and recovery.
