Every year around Christmas, we join together with people and organizations from all around the community to pack backpacks as gifts for men who have recently been released from prison. It's our way of demonstrating how much we care, with the idea that a little goes a long way, especially given the opportunity that our backpacks provide for us to connect with guys who we may be able to help further through the Life Restoration Program. With the help of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, Elevation Church, and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, we have blessed 268 formerly incarcerated citizens throughout their transition by distributing backpacks stocked with critical clothing and hygiene necessities upon their release.
Last year, we were able to give backpacks to Piedmont Correctional Institution, Center for Community Transitions, Exodus Homes in Hickory, NC, and Walker State Prison in Rock Spring, Georgia. We want to keep increasing the number of backpacks we can supply and reach out to more men across the state and beyond. We are presently seeking donations of backpacks and essential hygiene products, as well as financial contributions. Those in the greater Charlotte area can also volunteer to help us pack the backpacks. On December 2nd, we'll spend the morning packing backpacks, fellowshipping, and eating lunch at Elevation University City.
